Lynette McCarthy's current work focuses particularly on young women approaching the precipice of adulthood. Using teens as a vehicle to illustrate relatable, emotional experiences, she effectively transports the viewer, both visually and emotionally using a combination of saturated color, and images imbued with innocence and vulnerability. The lack of adults and/or male figures is intentional; blurring the lines of reality and exploiting the youthfulness of her subjects.
Lynette was awarded ‘Best of Show’ for her work titled “GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS “ at her premier photo exhibition in 2012, LUXE Gallery in San Diego. She has also accomplished her first solo show at EloS Gallery in San Diego.
Lynette is in her second year of the MFA Photography program at the University of Notre Dame.
